Phase one of Hove’s luxury development underway at Sussex Cricket Ground
Construction of one of the South Coasts most iconic developments is now underway in a unique position at the forefront of the home of Sussex Cricket in Hove. Award-winning, local developers, Roffey Homes who are nearing completion of the Bayside Apartments development on Worthing seafront, were appointed by Sussex Cricket in 2018 as their joint venture partner to help redevelop the main entrance to the famous cricket ground.
Tate Residences, named after the Tate Memorial Gates, a much-loved monument to one of the club’s most gifted players, will consist of 37 luxury one, two and three-bedroom apartments along with three and four-bedroom penthouses.
The majority of apartments will benefit from outdoor space with many having large, south-facing balconies. In addition to this, on the sixth floor, there will be a substantial resident’s communal rooftop terrace offering unparalleled views across the cricket ground and surrounding areas and an exceptional opportunity for cricket fans.
The development has already received an unprecedented level of interest with a considerable number of properties reserved off-plan, two years prior to occupation. Reservations have come from both local buyers and people moving from out of the area and larger cities who are now re-thinking their living situations in light of the pandemic.
Max Harbron, our head of New Homes said: “We always expected this to be a highly sought after development due to its unique position at the entrance to the cricket ground but the level of interest and off-plan sales that we have received has been exceptional with asking prices achieved for all of the reserved properties”.
Work at the site has already begun and soon excavation will commence for the secure, underground parking facilities that residents will benefit from. Construction work is scheduled to be complete in around eighteen months’ time, with first completions expected at the end of 2022.
Rob Andrew, Sussex Cricket’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted with the progress of the masterplan for The 1st Central County Ground so far.
Phase one is the redevelopment of the Sussex Cricketer pub and the south-west corner of the ground. This will be followed by further improvements to the cricket ground itself in due course. Phase one is critical to these further developments and we were delighted to receive planning permission in March 2020.
Working closely with our development partner, Roffey Homes, I am very pleased to say that, despite the difficulties of the last 12 months, we are still on track with our plan to complete phase one by the end of 2022.”
Just a stone’s throw from the vibrant city centre of Brighton, Hove offers a slightly more tranquil pace of life with its stunning seafront backed by the Western lawns and bohemian lifestyle.
