Team Michael Jones vs. 10km Tough Mudder For Charity!

Our 30th anniversary celebrations continued with 25 members of the Michael Jones team signing up to brave the Tough Mudder challenge in April. We got stuck into the 10km obstacle course in aid of our local charity partners: AudioActive, Wadars Animal Rescue and Care for Veterans.

It’s the type of challenge and motivation that our company founder, Mike Jones, loves:

The Michael Jones staff are always up for a challenge, especially one which is tough, exhilarating and involves being outdoors. My team at Michael Jones have outdone themselves again, with many of them feeling out of their comfort zone signing up to do Tough Mudder, yet they are committed and determined to complete the whole trail and do it with our three fantastic charities in mind. Although this charity event will be a challenge, it will also be a day filled with laughter, teamwork and lots of mud!

What is Tough Mudder?

Tough Mudder is a fun-packed event in the heart of London at Finsbury Park. Though known to push you to your physical and mental limits, it’s not a race, but a challenge met and conquered only through teamwork and community spirit.

It promises to be a challenging (aka. exhausting, gruelling, punishing), laughter-filled and outrageously mud-spattered experience to overcome all 20 obstacles and reach the finish line.

Why choose Tough Mudder?

Exciting challenge aside, the Tough Mudder ethos speaks to our own:

At Tough Mudder we believe everything is better when done together, not only out on a course but in the community as well.

Our team, our customers and our community mean everything to us – after all, we wouldn’t be here without them. So, when we were deciding which challenge to take on, Tough Mudder came out on top as the natural fit.

Tough Mudder also champions inclusivity and people in our communities who do inspiring things without recognition or medals – real heroes you never hear about, but often see or feel their impact.

Which brings us neatly on to…

Why we challenged ourselves

Put simply: to help raise essential funds for three local charities our team consider their heroes.

In 2021, as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations, the team selected three incredible local charities to donate to and support: AudioActive, Wadars Animal Rescue and Care for Veterans.

Each of these charities do very different work in our community, and taking on the Tough Mudder challenge was one way of raising more funds to help them continue their vital work.

How it went

The day itself dawned bright but freezing cold, and our 25-strong team headed out to brave the elements and meet whatever the Tough Mudder course had to throw at them.

All 25 completed the 10km course, and had a blast while they did it. Joe Bailey, our Worthing Sales Manager, said:

“It was a fantastic day. The cold weather certainly made it a little tougher – suddenly, actively choosing to get wet and muddy didn’t seem like such a great idea after all! I think the ice bath challenge nearly finished some of us off. Overall though, the obstacles were great fun, and we’re so glad we took on this memorable challenge for charity.

You can still support our charities

Impressed with our team’s grit and determination? Even though we’ve completed the challenge, you’ve still got time to donate to our chosen charity partners. The Michael Jones Tough Mudder fundraising page for each one is still live, so pick a charity (or two or three) you’d like to support and donate whatever you can at the links below.

Oliver Strotten handled our sale professionally and his pricing input was valuable. We were always able to speak to someone in the office even when Oliver was out.
