Welcome to our company market update for October

Autumn has officially arrived! The leaves are beginning to fall, turning crunchy and golden, ideal for family walks through the woods, the mornings are dark, and the days are getting shorter.
Our team at Michael Jones have been wrapping up warm for their viewings, consuming enough hot drinks to keep Starbucks in business and getting in the Halloween spirit, dressing up in spooky costumes and heading into town together.
Community
October half-term might mean a week off for the children, but for adults, it means seven days of trying to entertain them. Many places are now open again and ready for families to visit.
We were thrilled to sponsor Findon Village’s Spooky Halloween Trail yet again this year. A family fun day out over the half-term break, where the local community come together on a Halloween hunt following the map and solving the puzzle.
Property Market Update
The government announced their Autumn Budget this October, covering high-profile issues surrounding boosting investment for housebuilders, redevelopment, green investment relief and Capital Gains Tax for landlords. We cover everything you need to know in our blog here.
The housing market is set to record the strongest year for sales and house price inflation since 2007 with £473bn of new sales agreed in 2021, £95bn higher than 2020 according to Zoopla. There has been no sign of demand falling for homes, with Zoopla reporting buyer demand continues to run 25-30% above the 5-year average since the summer.
With no sign of demand falling off a cliff edge, sellers will continue to sell their properties with ease at a premium price.
As a company we dedicated the month of October to providing homeowners in West Sussex a specialist property valuation, completely free of charge. Our teams valued hundreds of properties, empowering homeowners with an up-to-date value of their property.
If you missed out, don’t worry you can still request a free valuation with us here.
Looking Forward
November is just around the corner and the countdown to Christmas begins, but first, we will take the time to honour our Veterans, at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month – we will remember them. Pop into your local Michael Jones to buy yourself a poppy and donate some money to Care for Veterans.
Best wishes,
