Worthing High Street will see a Brand New Department Store like no other!

We are pleased to announce that the former Beales department store in Worthing Town Centre has been leased to a brand new community-focused department store ’15:17 Limited’.

Since August 2018, 15:17 Limited have been acquiring former department store premises held by the likes of BHS, House of Fraser, Beales and others, and have immediate ambitious plans to open a further 50 stores across the UK. In an unprecedented move, last week they signed a 10 year lease to take on in excess of 35,000 sq ft of space on South Street, Worthing which considering the local climate is a significant investment in the Town.

15:17 aims to rejuvenate the local high street with its unique vision. Although the plans for the Worthing store are still being finalised their website suggests that they offer more than just concession space to retail partners, with some of their stores also containing fitness classes, on-site café, children’s soft play and even an opticians.

This news comes hot on the heels of other recent success stories in the same area, as Jon Justice, Associate Director at Michael Jones, confirms:

“We were delighted to have been instructed on this project and excited to see what they will bring to Worthing’s community. Alongside the commitment from 15:17 Ltd, we’re pleased to say that a further 4,000 sq ft of retail space has been let to 7 independent retailers, and we’re already in advanced negotiations for a serviced office provider to take on the remaining 7,500 sq ft of the second floor vacated by Beales.

With such encouraging signs for the rejuvenation of Worthing’s retail sector, we are excited to continue working for St Clair Developments in finding suitable parties for the rest of the scheme – it’s going to provide many new jobs for the people of Worthing when life returns to normal.”

15:17 Limited hopes to open its doors at the earliest opportunity when safety for its customers can be guaranteed following the removal of government restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
